REQUIREMENTS FOR THE ARTICLE FORMATTING

The journal publishes original articles on the problems of the food industry and related branches in the English language.

Along with experimental works, the journal publishes descriptions of fundamentally new research techniques and surveys on selected topics, reviews and news items.

Manuscripts submitted for publication should meet the following basic criteria: validity of data, clarity, conciseness, reproducibility of results, and compliance with manuscript requirements. In discussing the results, it is mandatory to set forth a sound conclusion on the novelty of the content submitted for publication.

The articles are accepted in the text editor Microsoft Word using the font Times New Roman, font size 10. The manuscript should contain not less than 10 pages type written with the single line spacing and having 2 cm wide margins from all sides. The article size also includesa resume, tables, figures, and references.

Each article sent to the journal should be structured as described below.

1. In the top left corner of the first page there is the UDC (Universal Decimal Classification) index.

2. Title. It is necessary to give a short, informative and precise name of the work.

3. Name(s) and initials of the author(s).

4. The name(s) and affiliation of the institution(s) where the research was carried out, the country, city, zip code, and e-mail address (of the author).

5. Resume. The abstract of 180 - 200 words should completely reflect both the main results and novelty of the article.

6. Key words (not more than 9).

7*. Introduction. A brief review of the problem dealt with in the study, and the validation of the approach taken are presented. References are given in square brackets and numbered (beginning with N 1) in order of their appearance in the article. With several references appearing in sequence they should be placed in the chronological order. The aim of the study should be clearly formulated.

8*.Objects andmethods of researches

- for describing experimental work the section should contain a full description of the object of the study, consecutive steps of the experiment, equipment, and reagents. The original names of equipment and reagents should be specified, and the manufacturer's name (company, country) should be given in parentheses. If a method is not widely known or considerably modified, please provide a brief description in addition to the reference;

- for presenting theoretical research the section should contain the tasks, approximations and assumptions, conclusions and solution of basic equations. The section should not be overloaded with intermediate data and the description of well-known methods (such as numerical methods of solving equations) unless the authors have introduced some novelty in them.

9*. Results and discussion

- the section should provide a concise description of experimental and / or theoretical data. Rather than repeating the data of tables and graphs, the text should seek to reveal the principles detected. It is recommended to use the past indefinite verb tense in describing the results. The discussion should not reiterate the results. This section should be completed with a major conclusion that answers the question specified in the introductory part of the article.

* In case of surveys these sections are not needed to be entitled. The contents may present analytical survey of the problem chosen and give the widest reflection of existing points of view and data connected with the theme. The article should necessarily contain the grounds for the problem timeliness and the author's conclusion on prospects of the approaches given for the solution of the problem analyzed.

Each table is to consist of not less than three columns and have a number and a title. The journal publishes black-and-white photographs and diagrams.

Recommendations for typewriting formulae: Mathematical equations forming a separate line should be printed in the MathType formula editor as a whole.

It is not allowed to combine a table, a text and an inserted frame within the same unit. For the equations printed in the MathType it is necessary to keep to the standard style of symbols and indices, their size and placing. Forced manual changing of individual symbols and formula elements is not allowable!

10. References.

They should be formatted according to the common standard. The list of papers is typed on a separate page in order of their appearance in the text. All authors of each cited paper are indicated. If there is an English version of the paper it is necessary to refer to it, indicating the DOI.

For cited journal articles - names and initials of all authors, name of the article, name of the journal ( for foreign journals it is necessary to keep to the CASSI ), year, volume, number, page.

For cited books - names and initials of the author(s), name of the book, publisher , year, volume, number, part, chapter, page.

For cited collections of articles, abstracts; conferences, symposiums, etc. - the author(s), name of the work, name of the collections (conference, symposium), city (place of holding), publisher, year, volume, number, the paper's first page.

References to web resources are to be given in the text.

There should be no references to publications that are not readily available. These include institutional regulations, state standards, technical requirements, unpublished works, proceedings of conferences, dissertation abstracts, dissertations.

Absence of references to foreign authors and also to the cited papers of 2-3 year novelty reduces the chances of a manuscript publication. References should reflect the actual impact of representatives of different countries in the investigation of a particular problem.

11. The following information should be sent in English: the title of the article, the authors' initials and surnames, an abstract, key words, name of the institution (with mailing address, telephone number, е-mail).

 

Documents

Documents may be presented in the Russian and English languages.

The following papers are sent to the editorial board:

1. a soft version of the article type-printed in MS Word. The file of the article should be entitled by the first author's surname - PetrovGP.doc. The data file must only contain a single document;

2. a printed copy of the article identical to its soft version. In case of discrepancies between them the editor gives preferences to the electronic version of the manuscript;

3. Personal information: the full names of all authors, the place and the mailing address of work, subdivision and position; academic degree and rank; honorary degree, telephone number, personal mailing and electronic addresses, date of birth, reference to the author's scientific profile.

The author to contact with is indicated by an asterisk. The file should be entitled with the first author's name - PetrovGP_Anketa.doc;

4. a cover letter to the editor-in-chief from the responsible organization with the conclusion about the work urgency and recommendations for its publishing, carrying the date, reference number, the head's signature;

5. an external review for the article, according to the sample, the reviewer's signature being authenticated by the corresponding HR subdivision;

6. a standard copyright agreement. Download the form.

Publication ethics

The Editorial Board of scientific and technical peer-reviewed journal «Foods and Raw Materials» is guided by the principles of publication ethics, developed on the basis of international standards:

1. ETHICAL PRINCIPLES OF SCIENTIFIC PUBLICATIONS

The policy of the journal is based on respect for the individual rights of the author and intellectual property rights.

Editorial Board ensures independent and conscientious consideration of all the manuscripts for publication of articles, without prejudice to the authors on the basis of ethnic or religious affiliation, social status; regardless of commercial interests and relations with the founder of the journal .

Editorial Board shall work to ensure and improve the quality of published materials, meet the needs of readers and authors to make a significant contribution to the development of domestic and foreign science in the field of food industry and related industries.

Principles of editorial activities involve: relevance, importance, clarity, reliability, validity of published research material.

Thoroughness, fairness, uniqueness, the fullness of the submissions, balance, originality, and clarity are adopted as the main indicators of quality of published research papers.

Editorial Board is working to attract and recruit in the staff of the editorial board highly qualified professionals, actively contributing to the development of the journal .

Editorial board is constantly improving the processes of reviewing, editing and publication evaluation by experts.

Editorial board ensures careful consideration of publications for image manipulation, plagiarism, duplicate or redundant publication.

Editorial Board shall decide on the acceptance or rejection of an article for publication on the basis of all the comments of independent reviewers in general. The final editorial decision and the reasons for its adoption is reported to the authors.

2. ETHICAL PRINCIPLES OF SCIENTIFIC PUBLICATIONS AUTHORSHIP

Authors submit to the journal article for publication, prepared in strict accordance with the requirements of article typography, including the illustrative material.

Authors guarantee that the submitted article contains the results of original research, which have never been published and is not under consideration in the wording of the other journals.

Authors are required to refer to the study of other people as correctly and accurately as possible by specifying the original source in the references to the article. Unacceptable is the verbatim of one's own works and paraphrasing, they can only be used as a basis for the new findings.

Authors do not have the right to copy the references to the work from other publications with which they are not familiar; quotations and references to other works must be accurate and drawn up in accordance with the requirements.

Author, representing the manuscript to editorial board ensures that the list of sponsors includes only those individuals who have made significant contributions to the work, and that the researchers deserving authorship are not excluded from the list of authors.

Author, representing the manuscript to editorial board ensures that these collaborators have seen it, approved the final version of the manuscript, and agree to its submission to the editor of the scientific journal for publication.

Authors must disclose conflicts of interests that could affect the evaluation and interpretation of their manuscript, as well as the sources of financial support for the project (grants, state programs, projects, etc.), which should be necessarily indicated in the manuscript.

Authors are required to immediately notify the editor in the event of an error in any work filed by them for publication, accepted for publication or already published work, as well as contribute to the editorial correction of the error. If the revision recognizes an error by third parties, the authors should immediately correct the error or to provide evidence of its absence.

Authors must follow the applicable laws on copyright protection; materials protected by copyright (for example, tables, figures or large quotation) may be reproduced only with the permission of their respective owners.

3. ETHICAL PRINCIPLES OF EDITING

Editorial board publishes information materials for authors (the list of the necessary requirements for the articles, the procedure for article consideration and review) in the journal and on the site http://jfrm.ru/en/for-authors/consideration/.

Editorial Board shall decide on the acceptance or rejection of publications based on the results of the inspection of the manuscript for compliance with the requirements for registration and the results of the review.

Editorial Board has the right to reject the publication of articles with the evidence of slander, plagiarism or copyright violations. The final decision on the publication of an article or refusal of such is accepted by the chief editor of the journal.

Editorial Board ensures the confidentiality, i.e. undertakes not to disclose the submitted manuscript to anyone other than the respective authors, reviewers, other editorial advisers and, where appropriate, of the publisher.

Editorial Board ensures that the materials of the manuscript rejected from the publication will not be used in the board members' own research without the written consent of the author.

Editorial Board shall promptly examine each claim for unethical behavior of the authors of manuscripts and already published articles, regardless of the time of their delivery, it shall undertake appropriate reasonable measures in respect of such claims. In the case of the confirmation of claim arguments, the editors have the right to refuse publication of the article, to cease further cooperation with the author, to publish a retraction, and take other necessary measures to further curb unethical behavior of this author.

In order to ensure the accuracy of the published data by the amendment when it detects indisputable errors in the work, an opportunity is provided as soon as possible to make appropriate amendments or correct omissions. Online version of the article is tested and correcting date and reference to the printed list of errata are designated.

4. ETHICAL PRINCIPLES OF PUBLICATION REVIEWING

Editorial Board guarantees a confidential, independent, honest and objective review of manuscripts of articles. Editorial Board has the right to reject a manuscript without an independent review, if it is found to be of poor quality or does not meet the requirements of the journal. This decision is made fairly and impartially.

With respect to the materials considered for publication editorial board selects independent reviewers having enough experience and no conflict of interests.

Expert evaluation of the manuscript provided by the reviewer, promotes the adoption of editorial decisions, and also helps the author improve the manuscript. On the basis of reviewing results the editorial board makes a decision on the adoption of the manuscript for publication, return it to the author for revision or rejection of the publication.

Reviewer should provide a review within the time specified by the editors of journal . If consideration of the manuscript review and preparation for those dates are not possible, then the reviewer shall notify the editor.

Reviewer undertakes to conduct peer review of the manuscript objectively. Personal criticism of author by the reviewer is unacceptable. All the conclusions of the reviewer should be strictly provided with links to authoritative sources.

Reviewers must indicate the presence of works that have influenced the results of the study, but were not given by the author. The reviewer is obliged to pay attention to the wording substantial similarity or overlap between the manuscript under consideration and the other previously published work, which is known to the reviewer.

Reviewers have no right to use unpublished manuscript materials in their own research without the express written consent of the author. The reviewer is obliged to refrain from examining the manuscript, in connection with which he has a conflict of interests because of the competitive, cooperative or other relationship with the author or organization related to the manuscript.

If the reviewer raises the issue of the accuracy of the data or the advisability of publication of scientific work, the author is given the opportunity to respond to the questions.

Independent peer reviewers are reported, about the requirements to them, and are also provided with information on any changes in editorial policy.

Editorial Board reserves the privacy of personal data of reviewers.

5. DECLARATION ON CONFLICT OF INTEREST

Authors must disclose conflicts of interests that could affect the evaluation and interpretation of their manuscript, as well as the sources of financial support for the project (grants, state programs, projects, etc.), which should be necessarily indicated in the manuscript.

Order of consideration

The journal is published in printed and electronic version.

Manuscripts submitted for publication should meet therequirements of the journal for the article formatting. The manuscripts presented with violation of the above mentioned rules are not considered by the editorial board.

A manuscript coming to the «Foods and Raw materials» editorial office is considered as matching the journal specialization and formatting requirements by the person responsible for the issuing. The manuscript is registered and receipt is confirmed within 10 days after its arrival.

Manuscripts submitted to the editorial board are checked for borrowings from open sources (plagiarism). The check is carried out through the Internet resources - www.antiplagiat.ru. The degree of originality is to be not less than 81%.

The manuscript further goes to the scientific consultant who evaluates validity of data, authenticity, grounds of factual evidence, its completeness and representativeness, its composition, logics, and stylistic quality, realization of the goal of the research.

Having been approved by the scientific consultant, the content submitted for publication undergoes reviewing. The reviewer is appointed by the editor-in-chief or the deputy editor. The journal only publishes the manuscripts recommended by the reviewers. Both the members of the editorial board and highly qualified scientists and specialists from other organizations and enterprises can be invited for reviewing manuscripts. They have to have profound professional knowledge and experience of work in the specific field of science and be doctors of sciences and professors.

The reviewers are notified about the manuscripts being the authors' private owner rights and not being subject to public disclosure. The reviewers are not allowed to copy the articles for their private needs. Reviewing is performed confidentially. Violation of confidentiality is impossible unless the reviewer declares unreliability or counterfeiting of the article's materials. Reviews' originals are kept by the editorial board during three years since the publication.

If the reviewer points out, that improvement is necessary the article is sent to the author for follow-on revision. In this case the return date of the modified article is considered the date of the article submission.

If, on the recommendation of the reviewer, the article underwent a considerable revision by the author, it is again sent to the reviewer who gave the critical remarks. The editorial board reserves the right to reject the articles in case of the author's inability or unwillingness to take into account the editor's recommendations.

In case of two negative manuscript reviews from different experts or one negative review on the article's modified variant it is rejected without considering by other members of the editorial board. After reviewing the possibility of publication is decided upon by the editor-in-chief or, in case of necessity, by the editorial board altogether.

The author of the rejected article is sent a motivated refusal by the official responsible for issuing. The reviewer's name may be reported to the author provided that the former gives consent to it.

The term for the article consideration should not exceed three months from the date of starting the reviewing process.

The editorial board does not retain rejected articles. Accepted manuscripts are not returned. The manuscripts with negative reviews are not published and not returned to the author, either.

As a rule, manuscripts are published in order of their submission to the editorial board. In exceptional cases the latter has the right to change the order of priority for the articles.

If the editorial board do not share the author's outlooks completely they may give a foot-note remark on this point. Manuscripts published with the purpose of discussion may be supplied with corresponding remarks.

The editorial board has the right to publish readers' letters giving evaluation of the printed articles.

The authors assume responsibility for authenticity of the information presented in the article. It should be original and should not be published before or submitted to other publishing organizations.

The editorial board is not responsible for falsity of the articles' data. Any violations of the copyright are prosecuted by law. Reprinting of the journal's materials is only allowed upon agreement with the editorial board. Written consent of the editorial board for reprinting and references to the journal «Foods and Raw materials» for citing are compulsory.

The authors are not expected to pay fees for publication, to be given the reward or free copies of the Journal.

Authors do not have the right to copy the references to the work from other publications with which they are not familiar; quotations and references to other works must be accurate and drawn up in accordance with the requirements.

Author, representing the manuscript to editorial board ensures that the list of sponsors includes only those individuals who have made significant contributions to the work, and that the researchers deserving authorship are not excluded from the list of authors.

Author, representing the manuscript to editorial board ensures that these collaborators have seen it, approved the final version of the manuscript, and agree to its submission to the editor of the scientific journal for publication.

Authors must disclose conflicts of interests that could affect the evaluation and interpretation of their manuscript, as well as the sources of financial support for the project (grants, state programs, projects, etc.), which should be necessarily indicated in the manuscript.

Authors are required to immediately notify the editor in the event of an error in any work filed by them for publication, accepted for publication or already published work, as well as contribute to the editorial correction of the error. If the revision recognizes an error by third parties, the authors should immediately correct the error or to provide evidence of its absence.

Authors must follow the applicable laws on copyright protection; materials protected by copyright (for example, tables, figures or large quotation) may be reproduced only with the permission of their respective owners.

3. ETHICAL PRINCIPLES OF EDITING

Editorial board publishes information materials for authors (the list of the necessary requirements for the articles, the procedure for article consideration and review) in the journal and on the site http://jfrm.ru/en/for-authors/consideration/.

Editorial Board shall decide on the acceptance or rejection of publications based on the results of the inspection of the manuscript for compliance with the requirements for registration and the results of the review.

Editorial Board has the right to reject the publication of articles with the evidence of slander, plagiarism or copyright violations. The final decision on the publication of an article or refusal of such is accepted by the chief editor of the journal.

Editorial Board ensures the confidentiality, i.e. undertakes not to disclose the submitted manuscript to anyone other than the respective authors, reviewers, other editorial advisers and, where appropriate, of the publisher.

Editorial Board ensures that the materials of the manuscript rejected from the publication will not be used in the board members' own research without the written consent of the author.

Editorial Board shall promptly examine each claim for unethical behavior of the authors of manuscripts and already published articles, regardless of the time of their delivery, it shall undertake appropriate reasonable measures in respect of such claims. In the case of the confirmation of claim arguments, the editors have the right to refuse publication of the article, to cease further cooperation with the author, to publish a retraction, and take other necessary measures to further curb unethical behavior of this author.

In order to ensure the accuracy of the published data by the amendment when it detects indisputable errors in the work, an opportunity is provided as soon as possible to make appropriate amendments or correct omissions. Online version of the article is tested and correcting date and reference to the printed list of errata are designated.

4. ETHICAL PRINCIPLES OF PUBLICATION REVIEWING

Editorial Board guarantees a confidential, independent, honest and objective review of manuscripts of articles. Editorial Board has the right to reject a manuscript without an independent review, if it is found to be of poor quality or does not meet the requirements of the journal. This decision is made fairly and impartially.

With respect to the materials considered for publication editorial board selects independent reviewers having enough experience and no conflict of interests.

Expert evaluation of the manuscript provided by the reviewer, promotes the adoption of editorial decisions, and also helps the author improve the manuscript. On the basis of reviewing results the editorial board makes a decision on the adoption of the manuscript for publication, return it to the author for revision or rejection of the publication.

Reviewer should provide a review within the time specified by the editors of journal . If consideration of the manuscript review and preparation for those dates are not possible, then the reviewer shall notify the editor.

Reviewer undertakes to conduct peer review of the manuscript objectively. Personal criticism of author by the reviewer is unacceptable. All the conclusions of the reviewer should be strictly provided with links to authoritative sources.

Reviewers must indicate the presence of works that have influenced the results of the study, but were not given by the author. The reviewer is obliged to pay attention to the wording substantial similarity or overlap between the manuscript under consideration and the other previously published work, which is known to the reviewer.

Reviewers have no right to use unpublished manuscript materials in their own research without the express written consent of the author. The reviewer is obliged to refrain from examining the manuscript, in connection with which he has a conflict of interests because of the competitive, cooperative or other relationship with the author or organization related to the manuscript.

If the reviewer raises the issue of the accuracy of the data or the advisability of publication of scientific work, the author is given the opportunity to respond to the questions.

Independent peer reviewers are reported, about the requirements to them, and are also provided with information on any changes in editorial policy.

Editorial Board reserves the privacy of personal data of reviewers.

5. DECLARATION ON CONFLICT OF INTEREST

Order of consideration

The journal is published in printed and electronic version.

Manuscripts submitted for publication should meet therequirements of the journal for the article formatting. The manuscripts presented with violation of the above mentioned rules are not considered by the editorial board.

A manuscript coming to the «Foods and Raw materials» editorial office is considered as matching the journal specialization and formatting requirements by the person responsible for the issuing. The manuscript is registered and receipt is confirmed within 10 days after its arrival.

Manuscripts submitted to the editorial board are checked for borrowings from open sources (plagiarism). The check is carried out through the Internet resources - www.antiplagiat.ru. The degree of originality is to be not less than 81%.

The manuscript further goes to the scientific consultant who evaluates validity of data, authenticity, grounds of factual evidence, its completeness and representativeness, its composition, logics, and stylistic quality, realization of the goal of the research.

Having been approved by the scientific consultant, the content submitted for publication undergoes reviewing. The reviewer is appointed by the editor-in-chief or the deputy editor. The journal only publishes the manuscripts recommended by the reviewers. Both the members of the editorial board and highly qualified scientists and specialists from other organizations and enterprises can be invited for reviewing manuscripts. They have to have profound professional knowledge and experience of work in the specific field of science and be doctors of sciences and professors.

The reviewers are notified about the manuscripts being the authors' private owner rights and not being subject to public disclosure. The reviewers are not allowed to copy the articles for their private needs. Reviewing is performed confidentially. Violation of confidentiality is impossible unless the reviewer declares unreliability or counterfeiting of the article's materials. Reviews' originals are kept by the editorial board during three years since the publication.

If the reviewer points out, that improvement is necessary the article is sent to the author for follow-on revision. In this case the return date of the modified article is considered the date of the article submission.

If, on the recommendation of the reviewer, the article underwent a considerable revision by the author, it is again sent to the reviewer who gave the critical remarks. The editorial board reserves the right to reject the articles in case of the author's inability or unwillingness to take into account the editor's recommendations.

In case of two negative manuscript reviews from different experts or one negative review on the article's modified variant it is rejected without considering by other members of the editorial board. After reviewing the possibility of publication is decided upon by the editor-in-chief or, in case of necessity, by the editorial board altogether.

The author of the rejected article is sent a motivated refusal by the official responsible for issuing. The reviewer's name may be reported to the author provided that the former gives consent to it.

The term for the article consideration should not exceed three months from the date of starting the reviewing process.

The editorial board does not retain rejected articles. Accepted manuscripts are not returned. The manuscripts with negative reviews are not published and not returned to the author, either.

As a rule, manuscripts are published in order of their submission to the editorial board. In exceptional cases the latter has the right to change the order of priority for the articles.

If the editorial board do not share the author's outlooks completely they may give a foot-note remark on this point. Manuscripts published with the purpose of discussion may be supplied with corresponding remarks.

The editorial board has the right to publish readers' letters giving evaluation of the printed articles.

The authors assume responsibility for authenticity of the information presented in the article. It should be original and should not be published before or submitted to other publishing organizations.

The editorial board is not responsible for falsity of the articles' data. Any violations of the copyright are prosecuted by law. Reprinting of the journal's materials is only allowed upon agreement with the editorial board. Written consent of the editorial board for reprinting and references to the journal «Foods and Raw materials» for citing are compulsory.

The authors are not expected to pay fees for publication, to be given the reward or free copies of the Journal.

Mission

"Foods and Raw materials" is a scientific technical Journal issued by  Kemerovo State University and devoted to the problems of the food industry and related branches.

It is published in the English language with periodicity of two volumes a year.

The main concern of the journal «Foods and Raw materials» is informing the scientific community on the works by the researchers from Russia and the CIS, strengthening the world position of the science they represent, showing the results of perspective scientific researches in the food industry and related branches.

The main tasks of the Journal consist the publication of scientific research results and theoretical and experimental studies, carried out in the Russian and foreign organizations, as well as on the authors' personal initiative; bringing together different categories of researchers, university and scientific intelligentsia; to create and maintain a common space of scientific communication, bridging the gap between the publications of regional, federal and international level.

Editorial Board is guided by the laws of the Russian Federation, the Charter of the Journal and other documents approved by the Founder and the Editorial of the journal.

There are the following milestones in the journal:

  • technology for food production;
  • biotechnology;
  • processes, equipment, and apparatus for food production;
  • food hygiene;
  • standardization, certification, quality and safety;
  • chemistry and ecology;
  • economics;
  • automation and informational support of technological processes.

The journal «Foods and Raw Materials» selected for inclusion in the Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI), forming part of the Web of Science Core Collection.

10 March 2016 the journal is included in the database Scopus.

The Edition «Foods and Raw Materials» is included in the Russian index of scientific citation (RISC) and registered in the Scientific electronic library eLIBRARY.RU
