The article features the problem of teaching pedagogical disciplines under modern sociocultural conditions. Teachers’ training in the current conditions of the new state standard implementation requires revision of pedagogical disciplines, which should be considered within the frames of sociocultural approach with its interconnection of professional identity and environment. The article introduces the following results. Updating contents of pedagogical disciplines in terms of sociocultural approach facilitates: a) extension of social environment, thus providing options and its sociocultural analysis; b) understanding of norms of teaching thus raising its success rate in the new sociocultural conditions; c) resolving the issue of professional identity; d) developing a style of professional behavior appropriate for the sociocultural environment of a modern teacher; e) self-perception as an agent of pedagogical culture of the changing society.
