The paper is devoted to the problems of interaction between the divisions involved in operational-investigative activities and those carrying out preliminary investigation of crimes connected with illegal logging. The authors describe some ways to optimize and enhance the use of police units that conduct operational-investigative activity in order to obtain information that would help to solve crimes and find the culprits. The research is based on the method of statistical indicators and qualitative analysis of procedural materials acquired from Kemerovo police. The conclusions substantiate the proposals for improving the mechanism of procedural verification of crime reports according to the legal nature of the criminal proceedings participants. It introduces some ways to improve the activity of the police and those involved in verification of crimes reports.
